Covid-19 and Schedule Update
**Updated Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 4:34 PM**
We would like to take the opportunity to update our members on our current remote training options, as well as our plan to re-open for in-person classes.
On April 30, Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-69, extending the requirement that many businesses, including SAMA, remain closed for in-person instruction until May 28th. More information on this order can be found here: https://www.michigan.gov/whitmer/0,9309,7-387-90499_90705-528460–,00.html
Since March 16th, we have offered online classes to all of our students and they have been going great. These remote classes are live, meaning students see and hear us, and instructors are able to give you specific feedback just like in a normal class. Call or text us at 269-689-5628 if you would like assistance.
Exciting update: Since beginning our remote training, we have had 48 students successfully test or pre-test since we have begun remote training! That’s 48 of you who have moved a little closer toward your goals – that’s awesome! While these benchmarks and milestones have been a different experience than before, we are thrilled to see you move forward and make the best of this strange situation.
We are so proud of ALL of you guys for working through this and making the best of this in whatever ways you can. We just can’t wait to see you all on the mat again!
With the extension of the closure for in-person classes, we are now planning to re-open on Friday, May 29th for in-person classes. We sincerely hope this is the final change to our re-opening date, but we must remain flexible and be prepared for a longer wait if another extension occurs.
We will offer a hybrid in-person/online class format beginning the 29th. Students who are uncomfortable training in person will not need to miss out on training – we will continue to offer the option to train 100% online for as long as we offer the online classes, which is tentatively until the end of June.
Private lessons will also be available from the 29th going forward. We will continue to do our absolute best to accommodate everyone. Again, we will remain flexible and bob and weave as needed. The hybrid schedule will be announced at a later date, so keep your eye out for our social media pages and emails.
Once we do re-open for in-person classes, our class experience will necessarily be different than it was before the pandemic. We have a set of specific, measurable, and timely procedures for keeping everyone safe as they return to the mat. Current members should check their email and the SAMA Members Facebook group for details.

TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST, BUT TOUGH PEOPLE DO
While we recognize the significance of this situation, we also recognize that remaining physically and socially active is an important way to maintain a healthy immune system and mind.
Despite this situation, we believe it is important for kids and adults to maintain as much consistency as possible, within reason.
Our goal, as always, is to provide our members with a positive and inspiring place to feel like you are progressing toward your goals, despite other things that may be going on in your lives. Physical and mental stimulation bring focus, and focus enables the logical, rational thinking we need to complement our emotions. Never stop working on yourself.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. We miss you all so much!
